The New Art Gallery Walsall
The artists here interact with the built environment or nature’s elements, to create other forces or raise questions around our perceptions. They appear to play, but with serious consequences. Things are not, at first glance, quite what they seem.
The artists use the photograph to tell a story or explore a memory, represent a vision or political belief. Or, in their desire to make accessible the natural world, have recreated it in a place closer to home. By bringing together the man made with the natural, a whole new exciting place is created, often drawing on the familiar, which makes the place accessible for other people to visit. This is the narrascape....
